My Husband Is Awesome!

Yesterday (Monday) Alex and I got to spend the afternoon together which doesn't happen often as he is either in class or working. It was a wonderful afternoon we had lunch and then did a little shopping. Our shopping included looking for new rings - I had previously went to the jewelry store and looked on-line where I had fallen in love with two rings. One I figured I wouldn't get as it was out of our budget. When we walked into the store I was excited to see that they had the other ring I had seen online - after looking at it in person I discovered that by the time is was sized down to fit my finger i would have stones smashed into my fingers on either side of my ring finger. I then looked at the ring I had originally fallen in love with at the store - Alex looked at me and said if that's the one you really want then get it - I was blown away by this reaction yet I did not hesitate to get it. The ring I got has a double heart which I found fitting for the occasion and a pink sapphire in each heart. I am not like most women - I don't like diamonds and pink sapphires are my absolute favorite! My new ring does have six small diamonds but they are not that noticeable. I also remembered later that the first ring Alex ever bought me was a double heart promise ring so this ring is even more fitting for the occasion I think.

You may be wondering why we got new rings, right? Well our rings are getting to the point where they either need to be rebuilt (because the backs are so thin) or replaced. We have both opted for replacing them. Alex wanted something simpler than his current ring which has diamonds in it - so he picked out a plain titanium band (well actually I picked it).

I am super excited to be renewing our vows! When we got married 10 years ago I didn't believe in God and therefore didn't want his name mentioned in our ceremony. Since then my faith has become extremely important to me and I want to get re-married in God's house. I even surprised Alex because I told him I wanted to have communion too - I said we are going to do it right this time - and he said okay. Now communion came to him as a surprise because just a couple months ago I had been talking about how I didn't really like communion, but that was before I really got the true meaning - I always said that Kiefer understood it more than I did but now we are either on the same page or I may have more of an understanding. Communion now takes on a lot of meaning to me and I enjoy receiving it (I don't think I could ever do common cup though) - the only thing I wish is that members at Grace wouldn't rush you and they allowed you to take time to reflect and they themselves took time to reflect what a special meal they are receiving.

So my faith has really taken a turn for the better and I have found I'm a much more positive person! I feel very blessed with everything I have, especially Alex he is my true love!

Thanks be to God!
