Catch Up

Sorry it's been a while since I've blogged, I've had a lot of thoughts I just haven't compiled them into a blog.

I recently read a friends blog and she was talking about how she likes that her kids are not as dependent on her as they were in the infant stage. I too have found myself liking the fact that the kids are more independent and I don't have to do everything for them anymore. One of our neighbors has a 6 month old and I like to see her smile and like to look at her but I have not held her nor do I have any desire to, I have found that I'm not even comfortable around babies anymore so I guess I know that chapter in my life is definitely over.

Kiefer played soccer for 6 weeks this spring and it was fun to watch his confidence levels increase in going after the ball and of himself. When he played last fall being around other kids was still new to him but not it's no big deal for him. He just goes with the flow for the most part.

Emali is doing drama this spring and her performance will be on the first Sunday in June - I'm anxious to see how she does she is so shy and timid.

Last week Alex and I had a great week, we got to spend the afternoons together by ourselves. We spent most of the week running errands but it was so nice being with him. This week is our last week with our afternoons together (and we only get 3 days) before he starts CPE (for his schooling he has to work as a hospital chaplain) on June 1st. Once he starts CPE he'll be gone Monday - Friday 8-5 and be on call some, we're not sure when or how often yet. I enjoyed last week and I'm looking forward to our 3 days this week because I LOVE to spend time with him!!! This summer is going to be weird with him being gone all day and not being able to text him while he's gone - hopefully August will get here fast. Yes I'm already wishing the summer away and it hasn't even started.

This Thursday we'll head to Michigan as soon as Emali is done with drama practice. On Friday the kids and I are all getting our haircut and I can't wait - Emali wants to go shorter, Kiefer desperately needs one, and I'm going for a new style. I'm anxious to get mine cute, I'm going to go shorter and I know the person that cuts my hair will thin it out with temps in the 80s most of this last week I'm ready for it to be gone! Saturday is our vow renewal and I can't wait!!! A lot of our friends from here are making the trip up to MI to be with us on such a special day and I'm really excited about that. Saturday night we are returning home so we can go to church here on Sunday, I have fallen in love with our church and especially my Adventures in Faith class - I don't want to miss it for anything! I'm trying to figure out how I can go to it the day of Emali's play but I just don't think I'll be able to. I really feel that I'm getting life lessons out of church and a lot of that is me - I have learned how to apply my faith in my everyday life.

Yesterday we went hiking to a place in OH called Hocking Hills - it was beautiful!! I would love to go back there sometime! Tomorrow we're headed off to the zoo to see how big the baby elephant has gotten we haven't seen him in about a month and he's probably huge by now. If we're not at the zoo real long tomorrow we might try to do some Geocaching - it is new to us but we know people who love it. This morning Pastor Patti was telling us how addicting it is, she does it with her 8 year old daughter, I'm hoping that our kids will think it is fun and it will be something that we can do as a family as I love to go out walking/hiking and if there's something to look for I think that will be fun too!

Well the dryer is done :( so I guess I'm off to fold laundry but I'm pretty much out of thoughts for now anyway. I will probably not update until after our vow renewal as I have some projects to work on for this weekend.

Thanks be to God!
