Discrimination?

Okay so it's taken a while for me to update this because it still gets my blood pressure going when I think about it.

Last Thursday I went and met with someone in the Center for Lifelong Learning (CLL) department which is geared towards adults who want to finish their degree. While sitting there talking to the guy he was looking over my transcript and figures I'll need about 35 credits to finish up which was good news. The thing that infuriated me was that I really felt discriminated against because of my age - the prof made it sound like because of my age I wasn't allowed to mix with the regular college kids. Through the CLL you get half priced tuition which I liked because I think Capital is probably the most expensive school in OH (I did look into several different ones) but you have to take evening classes which I did not like, I want to be able to take classes during the day while the kids are at school. He said that you can petition to take one day class per session. I just didn't like that idea at all! Plus he told me you can only go part time (the brochure he gave me says you can go full-time), and the class sizes are really small like 6-10 per class - well that's not me, I'd rather be a # than a name!

So last Friday I did apply to Capital but I applied as a transfer student rather than through the CLL program. Yes tuition is going to be higher but I'll be able to schedule classes when I want. So now I'm just waiting for them to get my transcript from Central and to hear back from them.

Last night I finished my FAFSA application and that's what it's mainly going to come down to - If I can't get money to go then I can't go as neither Alex or I have jobs.

I have also decided that if I have to take a lot of Psych classes then I might just go for a Religion degree. That is one of the things that really drew me to Capital was the religion major & minor. Plus it's a Lutheran university which I think is really cool (and I live across the street). :)

So now I get to wait for answers but I have taken the first step - one in which I've been thinking seriously about since we came to visit Trinity when I did in fact visit the Admissions office at Capital.
